Get to know the 2019-2020 Association of Transfer Students executive board! We dedicate our time and efforts to make this club the best it can be for all transfer students at Cal Poly. Don't be afraid to say "hi" if you see us on campus!
Claire Lopez - President
Lemoore, California My role is President and my main goal for the year is to help transfer students adjust from the semester system to the quarter system while they are making new transfer friends. I’m majoring in History with a double minor in Political Science and Latin American Studies. When I’m not studying, I enjoy writing or trying out new restaurants. |
Sandra Dejin - Vice President
South Lake Tahoe, California I am majoring in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing Management, and I transferred from South Lake Tahoe, California in 2018. I am also an international student originally from Sweden, so if you have any questions regarding the process of being an international student feel free to reach out! My goal as the Vice President of ATS is to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all transfer students and hopefully ease the transition from community college to Cal Poly. Starting Fall 2019, you will find me in Orfalea’s Career Readiness Office (third floor Business building), so come on by and say hi during our office hours. I look forward to answering any questions that you might have! |
Allen Oh - Treasurer
Bakersfield, California I am an Accounting and Information Systems concentration in the Orfalea College of Business. I attended Bakersfield College and transferred to California State University, Bakersfield before transferring to Cal Poly in Fall 2018. My goal after graduating from Cal Poly is to earn my CPA and work full-time at a public accounting firm. As the treasurer of the ATS, my job is to manage the funds of the organization and ensure our activities are within budget. On my free time, I like to go to the gym, socialize with my friends, rock climb, and have recently taken up yoga. If you enjoy being active as well, or have any questions regarding accounting and what you need to do to land an internship, do not hesitate to contact me and let’s get to know each other. |
Suzannie Marshall - Director of Outreach and Membership
San Luis Obispo, California I am the Director of Outreach and Membership and I transferred from Cuesta College here in San Luis Obispo. My major is Industrial Technology and Packaging. In my free time I like hiking and going to the beach. I am really excited to be involved with this club and to help create a better experience for future transfer students. |
Gabi Race - Transfer Center Liaison
Mission Viejo, California I am a Psychology major with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. I love being active and playing all types of sports, but my favorite is definitely soccer. I have a passion for breakfast food and I make amazing waffles. I share the Transfer Center Liaison role with Jess and we will coordinate with Cal Poly administration to set up a Transfer Center. The end goal is to provide transfer students with a place to seek help navigating issues that are unique to transfers and to help build a sense of community. |
Jess Ryan - Transfer Center Liaison
Fullerton, California I am a first year transfer student majoring in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Environmental Education. I hope to someday be an elementary school teacher or an environmental educator at a national park! I love to read, be outside, collect insects and explore California State Historical Landmarks. I am one of two Transfer Center Liaisons. As a Transfer Center Liaison, I work closely with the ATS and Cal Poly to establish our university’s first ever Transfer Center. We hope to give new, current and prospective transfer students a home here at Cal Poly and I’m very excited to be a part of this process! |
Lauren Hemmingway - Director of Social Events
Gilroy, California In my free time, I love to hike, cook, hang out with my friends, and look at memes. My favorite dessert is a cookie, but it has to be slightly undercooked and soft in the middle. I do believe that pineapple belongs on pizza, but my favorite way to eat pineapple is by itself or on a burger. I love to make friends and be social, which is probably why I got this position. If you have any suggestions for a social event or any questions regarding transferring, feel free to reach out! |
Gloria Chavez - Director of Social Media / Website
Reno, Nevada I am a Modern Languages and Literatures major (the fancy name for a BA in Spanish) with a minor in French and a minor in Global Politics. My biggest hobby is reading, but I also love to be outside, play soccer, listen to K-pop (it's so good), and watch YouTube. I also love to travel, when I have the money, so I am excited to study abroad in France in Fall 2019. As the Director of Social Media, I post photos and announcements for all things ATS to keep transfers at Cal Poly updated on resources and events. I am also in charge of this website and keeping its content updated. |
Laura Fullmer - Historian / Videographer
Santa Barbara, California Hi everyone, my name is Laura Fullmer and I’m the Videographer and Historian for the Association of Transfer Students! With my positions, I hope to document fun memories and moments for everyone to look back on. In my free time, I enjoy eating yummy foods and going on adventures with friends. |
This club would not have been possible without the founding officers, who started the club in 2017 to better serve students like them.
